Dr. Jason Chien, MD MS

Jason is a physician scientist with a passion for improving the lives of patients, reflected by lifelong contributions to academia, clinical medicine, and drug development.

During his journey across the healthcare industry, he has developed a keen ability to identify a patient's unmet needs, integrate this with insights into the latest scientific discoveries, and formulate R&D strategies that fit the business needs specific to the biotech and pharma industry.

Jason is consistently valued for his strategic thinking, thoughtful decision making, and ability to inspire and mentor collaborative teams to take the initiative and deliver results in the face of uncertainty. His leadership style is defined by courage, authenticity, and pragmatism.

The foundation of Jason's deep expertise and leadership skills stems from his extensive medical experience, including internal medicine, infectious diseases, respiratory, critical care medicine, genetics, and epidemiology. This has enabled him to work across multiple scientific disciplines, including genetics and immunology, and diverse disease indications, including respiratory infections, lung fibrosis, GVHD, ARDS, autoimmune diseases.

His industry career is preceded by a distinguished NIH-funded academic career at the University of Washington and the Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center, where he developed a world class research program focused on the immunologic complications of hematopoietic cell transplantation. Some of this work remains relevant to these patients' lives today.

Jason obtained his undergraduate degree from University of Michigan, his Doctorate of Medicine from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School, and his Masters of Science in Genetic Epidemiology from University of Washington. His post-graduate training includes Internal Medicine Residency and Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Case Western Reserve University, and Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at the University of Washington.
